ZENNER is taking over the Energy business sector from Alfa Centauri S.p.A

On December 5, 2017 ZENNER will take over the Energy business sector from the Italian specialist for smart gas meters Alfa Centauri S.p.A., thus further expanding its position in the international Smart Meter market. The new Company will be registered in future as ZENNER Gas S.r.l. and will move the headquarters from Fara Filiorum Petri in Italy to Pescara.
December 2017, Saarbrücken, Pescara – With its takeover of the Energy business sector of Alfa Centauri S.p.A. ZENNER is setting another milestone in its global digitalisation. ZENNER has already been offering smart water meters, heat meters and he at cost allocators for several years, using wireless m-bus technology and based on LPWAN radio technology for the Internet of Things (IoT).
The ZENNER product family is now being expanded to included new, smart gas meters with innovative communication modules by the newly formed Company ZENNER Gas. ZENNER is already one of the largest global producers of gas meters with an annual production of approximately 3 million gas meters. “With the new Company ZENNER Gas S.r.l. we are putting ourselves in a position to be able to offer our customers intelligent gas meters with IoT technology such as LoRaWAN in addition to smart water meters, heat meters and heat cost allocators. These solutions are an important element on the way to the digitalised energy and utilities industry”, explains Alexander Lehmann, Managing Director of the Minol-ZENNER Group.
Alfa Centauri was established in 2006 and is an internationally recognised supplier of innovative remote reading technology for smart gas meters. Beyond this the company also offers its customers services in the sectors of remote meter reading, data management and consumption settlement as well as the remote reading and administration of gas tanks. Besides France, the UK and the Netherlands, Italy is also one of the few major EU markets to decide in favour of the obligatory introduction of intelligent gas meters. Several million smart gas meters have already been installed to date. Experience from this rollout, in which Alfa Centauri played an important planning role, has been integrated successfully into the company’s product development.
